David Adames, MA, LPC, NCC - Licensed Professional Counselor
About Me

Experienced Therapist in the field of trauma; provides individual/ family counseling. My theoretical orientations are primarily Cognitive-behavioral and Person-centered/Rogerian; although, I also use various eclectic and insight/awareness-oriented approaches. These approaches are designed to challenge and reduce negative/distorted thoughts along with the accompanying self-defeating behaviors that perpetuate a negative emotional state. My goal as your therapist is to increase positive/rational thinking that leads towards the effective management of life's problems. Most change occurs between therapy sessions as clients experiment with fresh ways of thinking, behaving, and feeling.

In order to incorporate change, I utilize unconditional positive regard along with cognitive and dialectical behavior (CBT & DBT) strategies, which will assist you in the regulation of emotions, toleration of stress, and the effective management of interpersonal conflicts. This approach is also very effective in the treatment of depression, addiction, anxiety, and other emotional issues. I also employ complete unconditional positive regard along with my clients so as to create an atmosphere of acceptance and support.
